Thomas & Elizabeth Shockley to Elzy M. Bowles; 25 Oct 1852
This indenture made and entered into this 25th day of October 1852 between Thomas J. Shockley & Elizabeth C. Shockley of the first part and Elzy M. Bowles of the second part all of Barren County, state of Kentucky. Witnessth that the said Thomas J. Shockley and Elizabeth C. Shockley his wife for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred and sixty dollars in hand paid them has this day bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain sell and convey unto the said E. M. Bowles a certain tract of land containing twenty eight acres more or less and situated on the waters of Falling Timber Creek it being a part of a tract of 268 acres conveyed to William and Joseph D. Nevill by John R.G. Burks and bounded as follows, towit, Beginning on a white oak thence E 88 poles to two dogwoods and sasafras thence North 61 1/2 poles to a red oak, thence South 81 W 96 poles to a sasafras, thence South 36 E 25 poles to a dogwood and oak stump, thense South 44 poles to the Beginning, to have and to hold said tract with its appurtenances unto the said E. M. Bowles and his heirs forever, and the said Shockleys doth agree to forever warrant and defend the title of said tract unto said Bowles free from the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever. In testimony thereof the said Shockley and Elizabeth his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and date above written.
