This indenture made and entered into this 7th day of February 1857 between Ezekial Witty & Martha E. Witty his wife and Joseph R. Witty of the first part and Austin W. Bowles of the second part all of the county of Barren, state of Kentucky; witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of nine hundred nine dollars paid & secured to be paied in the following manner (viz) four hundred fifty dollars is hereby acknowledged to be payed & one note of hand for one hundred fifty three dollars due first day of April 1858 & one for same amount due the first day of April 1859 & one for same amount due the first day of April 1860 and all dated this date, the party of the first part hath this day sold unto the party of the second part a certain piece or parcel of land lying & being in the county & state aforesaid & on Glover Creek bounded as follows: Beginning at a stone John Page's corner thence N 73 poles to a stone thence N 55 W 94 poles to 2 sugar trees thence with an oald marked line S 27 3/4 W 174 poles to a beech John Holland's corner thence with said line S 87 E 72 poles to a stone & 2 beeches marked as pointers thence N 80 E 104 to the beginning containing one hundred & one acres to the party of the second part forever & the party of the first part do covenant & agree to & with the party of the second part to forever warrant & defend the title to the above named tract of land free from the claim or claims of themselves or & either heirs & against the claim of all and every other person whatsoever. In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands & seals the day & date above written.

I Travis Cockrill clerk of the county court for said county certify that this deed from E. Witty & M.E., his wife & J.R. Witty to A.W. Bowles was this day acknowledged before me by all of said grantors to be their act & deed. Whereupon the same & this certificate have been recorded in my office given under my hand this 8th day of December 1857.
