This indenture made this 25th day of May 1837 between John and Octavius Pickering, Executors of Timothy Pickering dec'd by Geo Work their attorney in fact of the first part & John Bowles of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Pickerings Ex'ers afsd [aforesaid] have given, bargained, & sold, and by these presents do give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, and convey to said Bowles the following tract of land on the waters of Fallen Timber Creek in the county of Barren & state of Kentucky, being part of a 2300+ acre survey patented to said T. Pickering and others, containing four hundred & fifty-eight acres & 3 roods be the same more or less, and bounded as follows. Beginning at a large black oak, corner to Braxton Courts, thence west 134 poles between a dogwood & beech pointers, thence N 53 W 94 poles (passing through a field by a cross fence, leaving it on the right hand) to a large chesnut, thence N 10 E 52 poles to a sassafras & two dogwoods, thence W 110 poles to three dogwoods in the west line of the original survey, thence with said line S 280 poles to a beech and buckeye corner of the original survey, thence with another line of said original survey 361 poles to Risen[?] or Courts line between his popular and black oak corners, thence with the same N 15 W 171 poles to the beginning according to a survey made by Isham Hardy at the instances of said Bowles. To have and to hold the afsd tract of land to said Bowles and his heirs forever free from the claim or claims of those claiming or to claim by through or under said T. Pickering dec'd, but not against the claims of any other person or persons whatsoever; and it is expressly agreed between the parties that said Work who only acts as agent is in no event to be responsible for said title or in any aspect to incur any liability by reason of anything in this deed contained. Given under our hands & seals the day afsd.

This day personally appeared Geo. Work the attorney in fact above named before me Henry G. Johnson, Judge of the probate for the county and state aforesaid being an inferior court of record for said county & state and acknowledged the foregoing deed for John and Octavias Pickering to John Bowles to be the act and deed of the grantors therein ...[document torn] ... day of June 1837.

I Thomas J. Helm clerk of the county court for the county aforesaid do certify that this deed from John & Octavias Pickering executors of Timothy Pickering deceased by George Work their attorney in fact to John Bowles together with the testamonials thereon endorsed wasa on this day produced to me in my office for record. Whereupon the same together with this certificate hasth been duly admitted to record in my office. Given under my hand this 17th day of September 1838.
