This indenture made this fourth day of April one thousand eight hundred and one between John Wade and Hannah his wife of the county of Montgomery and state of Virginia on the one part and Obediah White of the county of Franklin and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John Wade and Hannah his wife for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars current money of Virginia to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath given, granted, bargained, and sold, and by these presents doth give, grant, bargain, & sell and deliver unto the said Obediah White, one certain tract or parcel of land lying in the county of Franklin and on the branches of Town Creek containing two hundred and fifty seven acres be the same, more or less and bounded as felloweth, to wit. Beginning at a Spanish oak in Stephen Stone's line thence new lines N 74 W 16 poles to a Spanish oak, N 50 W 36 poles to a Chesnut tree, N 58 W 27 poles to a white oak, S 55 W 76 poles to a gum on Rock Run, N 118 poles to a white oak, S 45 W 30 poles to Mavily's corner red oak, and with his line N 67 E 80 poles to a Spanish oak, N 42 E 103 poles to pointers, N 36 W 4 poles to a black oak in Jamison's line, and with his line N 60 E 172 poles to Martins corner Chesnut tree, and with his line S 16 E 66 poles to white oak in his own line, and with it N 57 W 50 poles to pointers, S 35 W 180 poles crossing a branch to a red oak, S 32 E 82 poles crossing said Run to pointers, S 15 E 52 poles to pointers, N 38 E 11 poles to a white oak in Hopkinson's line, and with it S 12 1/2 E 20 poles to pointers in said Stones line, and with it N 65 W 34 poles to a black Jack, S 41 W 60 poles to the Beginning to have and to hold the above sold land & premises together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said Obediah White, his heirs and assigns forever, and the said John Wade and hannah his wife doth further covenant to agree to and with the said Obediah White his heirs and assigns forever against themselves their heirs and against the lawful claim or claims of all persons whatsoever, doth by these presents forever warrant and defend a good and lawful right in fee simple to the above land & premises. In witness whereof they the said John Wade and Hannah his wife hath hereunto set their hands and seals. This indenture of bargain and sale between John Wade and Hannah his wife of the one part and Obadiah White of the other part, was acknowledged by the said John Wade and Hannah his wife, the said Hannah being first prively examined according to law voluntarily relinguished her right of downer in and to the lands and premises coveyed by this indenture, which is ordered to be received.
