This indenture made this 4th day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fouir between John Wade of the county of Montgomery and state of Virginia of the one part & Obediah White of the county of Franklin and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John Wade hath for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred present lawful money of Virginia in hand paid by the said Obediah White, the receipt whereof be that the said John Wade doth acknowledge himself fully satisfyed, contented, ..?.. of every part & parcel of a certain tract or parcel of land and doth by these presents grant, bargain, sell, and confirm unto the said Obediah White one certain tract or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the county aforesaid on the waters of Chesnut, containing by estimation three hundred & seventy three acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows to wit. Beginning at Hopkines corner red oak in his own line thence with Hopkins line S 29 degrees E 322 poles to Barksdell pointers & with his line S 25 1/2 E 140 poles to a post oak in James Martins line & with it N 13 E 162 poles to a Chestnut tree in Jasper Howsers line and with it S 33 W 30 poles to pointers N 47 W 120 poles pointers N 17 W 36 poles to pointers at Coles Road N 32 W 152 poles to a black oak N 23 W 88 poles to pointers N 73 1/2 8 poles to a red oak in James Martins line and with it 21 1/2(?) W 72 poles to a red oak, N 65 1/2 W 44 poles to pointers in his own line, with it S 3 W 45 to a Chesnut oak N 60 W 107 poles crossing Coles Road to pointers S 32 W 182 poles to black oak S 33 E 80 poles to pointers S 15 E 52 poles to pointers N 38 E 11 poles to a white oak N 75 East 154 poles crossing Chesnut Creek to the Beginning together with the appurtentences thereunto belonging with all houses, orchards, woods, ways, waters, and water courses thereunto belonging or in any way appertaining to have and to hold the above mentioned tract or parcel of land and premises in fee simple, and he the said John Wade doth warrant and forever defend the said tract or parcel of land and premises from the just and lawful claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever to the only proper use of him the said Obediah White & his heirs and assigns forever. This indenture of bargain and sale between John Wade & Hannah his wife of the one part and Obediah White of the other part was acknowledged by the said John Wade & Hannah his wife the said Hannah being first prively examined according to law voluntarily relinguished her right of dower in and to the land and premises conveyed by this indenture which is ordered to be recorded.
