Know all men that I William A. Bowles of the county of Metcafe and State of Kentucky being of sound mind and deposing memory do make and constitute this my last will and testament in manner and form to wit:
1st I desire that after my decease all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid.
2nd I give to my wife Lucinda S. BOWLES the full controle(sic) of all my land to have and to hold said land for the support of herself and my infant children during her natural life or widdowhood (sic) but if she should marry again then the land to be sold and the proceed thereof to be divided as follows. My wife Lucinda S. BOWLES to have one third or a childs part of the proceeds as she may choose the remainder to be equally divided among all my children.
3rd I give my Executor or Executors herein after mentioned full power to sell all my personal property except so much then as may be necessary to keep on the farm to cultivate the same.
4th I have given my son Samuel C. BOWLES one horse worth one hundred dollars to my son Joseph C. BOWLES one horse worth one hundred dollars and when my son Walter J. BOWLES shall have become twenty one years of age that he shall have one horse worth one hundred dollars to make him equal with my two sons mentioned. I have given my daughter Marcella F. BOWLES one saddle worth twenty five dollars to my daughter Lucinda C. BOWLES one saddle twenty five dollars. I desire that all my children be made equal in the amount of one hundred dollars each and be it understood that I have given my two sons J C. BOWLES and W J. BOWLES what tobacco they raised in the year 1866 not to be charged against them. I desire that after my estate shall have been wound up that an equal distribution be made of all that may be on hand amoung all my heirs (to wit). Sam C. BOWLES, Joseph C. BOWLES, Walter J BOWLES, Marcella F. BOWLES, Lucinda C. BOWLES, Sarah E BOWLES, Josephine BOWLES, James M. BOWLES, Nancy E. BOWLES, Henrietta BOWLES, William A. BOWLES Jr. Augusta R. BOWLES, my wife Lucinda S. BOWLES to have a shair(sic) with them, either a child part of one third share as she may choose.
Lastly I appoint Geo. Shirley and my wife Lucinda S. Bowles executor and Executrix of this my last will and testament. Given under my hand this 29th day of March 1867. Signed in the presents(sic) of Geo. E. Pedigo, Samuel W. Thompson, Jonathan Williams.

I ER Beauchamp clerk of the county court aforesaid do certify that this will of William A. Bowles was produced in open court and proven by the oath of GE. Pedigo and Jonathan Williams two ofthe subscribing witnesses to be the last will and testament of Wm. A. Bowles Dec'd. Whereupon the same and this certificate is recorded in my office given under my hand this April 23 1867.

I ER Beauchamp clerk of the court aforesaid do certify, that this will of WA Bowles and certificate was this day reentered of record from attested coppy(sic) said records having been destroyed by fire at the burning of the courthouse and clerk offices in aforesaid county on the 27th day of July 1868. Wirness my hand this 30th day of July 1868.
